VIRTUAL SESSION: Understanding Audiences and Building Towards Recovery in a Post-Pandemic World

10:00am - 11:15am MT on Wednesday, March 24

speakers: Mathew stone

Like the rest of the world, we are at a cross-roads brought by a pandemic that is changing public life and re-shaping our economy. Community organizations in the arts, culture, sports, recreation, tourism and hospitality sectors, all of whom rely on live group experiences, are grappling with a new reality. Uncertainty is the only thing that is certain right now and organizations need to be prepared for a change in audience behaviour. The question is what that will look like.

If you are in the business of bringing people together for any reason, you need good information to help you make decisions about the viability of future events, strategies for bringing people back and hard facts about how people are going to feel as restrictions are slowly lifted and new economic realities set in. While research is available piecemeal from other jurisdictions, reliable data is needed about OUR Alberta audiences to help leaders plan in a local context.

Stone-Olafson, has developed a long-term custom investigation to evaluate how current conditions will reshape Albertan’s attitudes and behaviours towards social and group activities, across a variety of sectors. They will be sharing some highlights from 4 waves of research since last summer.
