Senior advisor, community investment
Kia is responsible for Pembina’s community investment program in communities across Northern Alberta and British Columbia. A match-maker at heart, Kia loves the opportunity to bring her organization and community groups together to solve challenges, maximize opportunities, or create value.
Prior to joining Pembina, Kia spent 9 years in community investment at Vermilion Energy, where she had the opportunity to work with teams across Vermilion’s international operations. This was preceded by time spent working in Ottawa on projects that couldn’t have been more different from each other – a non-partisan political idea campaign advocating the need for democratic reform, and a once-thriving business of mailing DVDs to movie lovers across Canada.
Having grown up in Calgary, Kia chose to pursue undergrad studies at Queen’s University as much for its academic reputation as for the chance to experience another part of Canada. She then moved further east when she was accepted into the MBA program at Dalhousie University, where she also moonlighted as a sea kayak guide in Lower Prospect.
A love of family, the Rockies and Alberta’s “can-do” culture brought Kia back to Calgary, where she met her husband and is now raising her two very blond, very energetic young boys. In her spare time, Kia finds satisfaction and meaning in her volunteer work with Wood’s Homes, and the Wood’s And The City event committee.
